Celina Approves $7.5 Million Downtown Reinvestment
Celina’s downtown reinvestment agreement supports $7.5 million in private investment at two prominent properties.

Celina has approved an economic development agreement designed to bring fresh investment and new activity to two prominent downtown properties.
The partnership with Celina Real Estate, LLC represents a combined $7.5 million private capital investment at 102 N. Ohio Street and the historic Mayer Building at 313 W. Pecan Street.
City leaders say the projects are intended to create new restaurant, retail and office opportunities around Downtown Square.
For residents, the significance is not only the dollar figure.
Both sites occupy highly visible locations where active storefronts and workplaces can add more reasons to visit downtown beyond a festival or special event.
The Ohio Street property sits at the corner of Ohio and Walnut, while the Mayer Building carries a historic identity that makes its next chapter especially important to the character of the square.
The agreement signals a continued effort to pair Celina’s rapid growth with reinvestment in its traditional center.
That balance matters as thousands of new residents move into neighborhoods farther from the original downtown grid.
Restaurant and retail uses could increase foot traffic for existing merchants, while office space could help keep more weekday activity in the district.
Specific tenants and opening dates were not announced with the agreement, so the practical next milestone will be watching for construction plans and business commitments at each address.
Downtown Celina has already become a regional draw for community events and locally owned businesses.
Reactivating underused buildings could deepen that momentum without erasing the small-town setting residents value. |
