For neighbors along the 380 corridor, downtown Frisco offers a fresh reason to park the car and spend some time on foot.
Frisco marked completion of its $83 million Rail District reinvestment project on October 13, bringing reconstructed Main and Elm streets, a five-story parking garage and 4th Street Plaza together.
The improvements include wider Main Street sidewalks with room for outdoor dining and retail activity, along with 450 free garage spaces.
At the center is 4th Street Plaza, an outdoor gathering place connecting Elm and Main streets at 8802 4th Street.
A place to linger
Covered seating, a lawn, restrooms, public art and a performance stage give visitors several ways to enjoy the plaza beyond a quick stop.
For a simple outing, pair a downtown meal or shopping visit with a walk through the public space.
The plaza opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes at midnight.
Opening-week experiences
On Friday, October 16, Plaza Live! features the Patrick Casey Band from 7–9 p.m., with free admission.
Saturday brings Music on Main from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., followed by From This Ground, a community art activity with live music, from 4–7 p.m.
Free Saturday sunrise yoga runs 7:30–8:30 a.m.; bring your own mat, with no advance registration required.
Plan your visit
The new garage is near Elm and 3rd streets, making it a practical starting point for exploring downtown.
Check the city’s current program listings before leaving, particularly for outdoor activities that could change with the weather.
The completion is a useful milestone for residents who want another close-to-home place to gather, browse and enjoy an evening together. |
