Frisco’s 122-Acre Northwest Community Park Is Now Open

Frisco’s Northwest Community Park is officially open, adding 122 acres of outdoor space near Teel Parkway for families, cyclists, runners and dog owners.

Located at 14000 Teel Parkway, the new park combines active recreation with careful preservation of one of North Texas’ most distinctive natural landscapes.

Visitors will find three playgrounds, a splash pad, dog park, pump track, BMX areas, picnic spaces, public art and nearly 10 miles of trails.

That variety makes the park more than another neighborhood playground.

Its trail network includes paved shared-use paths, singletrack, freeride and flow routes, a connector trail and dirt paths reserved for hikers and trail runners.

Class 1 e-bikes are allowed throughout the park, including off-road areas, while Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes are not permitted on natural-surface trails.

The project also protects rare Blackland Prairie soils and grasslands, an increasingly scarce piece of the region’s ecological history.

More than 1,300 elm and oak trees were added, giving the landscape room to become shadier and more inviting as the park matures.

For residents along the western US-380 corridor, the opening creates a major new weekend destination without requiring a drive into central Dallas.

The park opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset.

Restrooms, parking, pavilions, grills and ADA-accessible amenities are available, making the site practical for everything from a quick walk to a full family outing.

The best first visit may be the simplest one: pick a trail, climb toward Prairie Lookout and leave enough time for the playground or splash pad afterward.
