McKinney Becomes KFC’s Test Kitchen for Breakfast and Late Nights
A new Open House restaurant is trying ideas that could eventually spread nationwide.

McKinney is now home to KFC’s new Open House concept, a working restaurant designed to test ideas that could eventually reach locations across the country.
The 3,400-square-foot restaurant opened Sept. 26 at 8751 Eldorado Parkway and operates daily from 6 a.m. to midnight.
Its extended hours bring KFC into breakfast and late-night dining, with morning options that include breakfast sandwiches, Original Recipe tenders, hashbrown sticks, mini cronuts, coffee and iced lattes.
The broader test menu adds new sauces, fried green beans, spicy pickles, lemonades, boba refreshers and Krunch shakes alongside familiar chicken favorites.
The experiment goes beyond food.
The McKinney restaurant includes table service, self-order kiosks, a dual drive-through, a dedicated mobile pickup lane, indoor and outdoor seating, and room for 52 guests.
A digital Celebration Booth is meant for birthdays and shareable moments, while a Swag Bar offers branded merchandise.
KFC describes the location as a place to learn what works for guests, employees and the business before considering wider use across its more than 3,500 U.S. restaurants.
That makes this more than another chain opening: North Texas customers are effectively helping shape the company’s next chapter.
For 380 Corridor families, the practical appeal is straightforward—earlier breakfast, later hours and a one-location preview of ideas most KFC customers cannot try yet. |
Three Questions About KFC Open House1. Where is KFC Open House, and what are its hours? The restaurant is at 8751 Eldorado Parkway in McKinney. KFC lists daily operating hours of 6 a.m. to midnight Central Time.
2. What can diners try for breakfast? The announced breakfast lineup includes breakfast sandwiches, Original Recipe tenders, hashbrown sticks, mini cronuts, freshly brewed coffee and iced lattes. The restaurant’s full operating hours do not necessarily mean breakfast is served all day; check with the location for breakfast availability.
3. Will these new menu items and experiences come to other KFC restaurants? Open House is a working test restaurant where KFC can evaluate new food, beverages and service ideas. The company plans to use what it learns to identify concepts that could expand across its U.S. restaurants, but its announcement does not promise a nationwide rollout or timetable.
