Universal Kids Resort Set to Open in Frisco, Texas in May 2026

Universal Destinations & Experiences has announced the upcoming opening of Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, slated for 2026.

 

This innovative theme park is specifically designed for families with young children, offering immersive experiences centered around popular characters and stories.

 

Set amidst a lush green landscape, the resort will encompass seven themed lands, each bringing to life Universal's iconic entertainment, humor, and innovation.

 

These areas include:

 

DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp: An ogre-sized playground where children can meet Shrek and Fiona, explore interactive play areas, and enjoy water features.

 

DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar: A vibrant area featuring carnival games and meet-and-greets with Puss in Boots, Mama Luna, and Perrito.

 

Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club: A water-soaked adventure where Yellow Minions attempt to manage their Purple counterparts, offering interactive play and surprises.

 

Jurassic World Adventure Camp: An exhilarating zone where families can encounter dinosaurs, participate in interactive exhibits, and climb lookout towers for panoramic views.

 

DreamWorks’ TrollsFest: A lively music festival atmosphere where guests can meet Poppy, Branch, and the Trolls gang, and enjoy glitter-filled play areas.

 

Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom: An undersea adventure where visitors can meet SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy, and explore themed play areas like Mussel Beach and Pineapple Paradise.

 

Isle of Curiosity: The central hub of the resort, featuring interactive play areas and opportunities to meet Gabby from DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse.

 

Molly Murphy, Universal Creative, said,

In addition to these attractions, the resort will include a 300-room hotel designed with families in mind, providing a place to stay, play, and relax after a day of fun.

 

Construction began in November 2023, with the project expected to generate thousands of jobs, including over 2,500 new construction positions.

 

The resort is anticipated to open in May 2026, aligning with the region's hosting of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

 

Frisco was selected for this project due to its rapidly growing population and appeal to businesses.

 

City officials and Universal representatives have expressed enthusiasm about the partnership and the positive impact the resort is expected to have on the community.
